Using the Portfolios
Introduction
The portfolios are designed to showcase pictures, videos, and other types of remembrances. I've tried to make them as self-explanatory and as easy to use as possible. Yet I realize that not everyone uses computers as frequently as I do, so I'm going to do my best to help you navigate them as effectively or painlessly as possible. If you don't feel like reading this, click on the button (my face) and I will talk you through the steps of using the portfolios.
Basic Definitions and Concepts
Browser. A browser is a software application or "program" that has a graphical interface and interacts with and goes between web pages. Some examples of browsers are Google Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, and Silk.
URL. URL is short for Uniform Resource Locator. Simply put, it is the address of a web page or where it "lives" on the internet.
Link. Links are the manifestations of the URLs. Some examples are https://www.google.com and https://gsgrady.myportfolio.com. They are often underlined in a distinct blue color when you see them. When you click on them with your mouse, you are directed or sent to that page or address. If you want to try it here, click on my link: https://gsgrady.myportfolio.com then hit the back button <- on your browser to return to this help page. It's important to note that in the portfolios, you can go to other pages by clicking on text links and images.
Navigation. Navigation of the portfolios is centered around clicking on images. When you see a set of images on your screen, there are two things that can happen when you click on the center of it. The first is that your click can open a set of images related to it. The second is that the click will zoom in on that one image, making it the only image visible. Once that image is the only one visible, you can navigate to the previous image by clicking on the left side of the image. Alternatively, you can navigate to the next image by clicking on the right side of it. Please submit comments or questions below.
